Start. Stop. Continue.

Why didn't I start that sooner.

What a waste of time, should have cut my losses.

This is working, I am going to keep it up.

Those are some thoughts that pop into my head when I think of fitness and nutrition. I have wasted a lot of time, energy and money on crap that just doesn't work. The thought of all of the useless  supplements I have taken and some of the worthless exercises I have done make me  angry. Not angry that I tried things out and eventually came to my own conclusions, but angry on why it took so long. That brings me to the start, stop, continue exercise (mental, not physical). If I had only reflected using an exercise like this more regularly I would have saved time, money, and effort.

The new year is a great time to reflect on the past. What went well, what didn’t, what could you have done better, where you failed and where you succeeded. Sometimes it is tough to be honest, but hey you don’t have to share this with anyone. Looking at 2014 through a health and fitness lens, the follow is a list of things I am going to start doing, stop doing or continue to do in 2015.

Start:

  • Training outside - obvious
  • Involving my family into my workouts - much more fun outside
  • Chronicling my experiences
  • Blog about outdoor fitness
  • Help others enjoy the benefits of free fitness

Stop:

  • Stressing over missing a workout
  • Training inside
  • Eating too many sweets on re-feed days (not happy about this one)
  • Staying up too late past my “bedtime” on computer, IPad, etc. (I am writing this at midnight, so still have a lot of work to do here).

Continue:

  • Being consistent
  • Keeping workouts under an hour
  • Tracking progress - need to do a better job
  • Eating clean 95% of the time
  • Focusing family experiences on adventure and fitness as opposed to food.

There you have it. My fitness start, stop, continue list. Take action, give it some thought and write your own list out. Do this several times throughout the year. You might be surprised of the results.
